Appearing when Hyrule needed a miracle, Agahnim was thought to be the kingdom’s savior, but he was anything but. After gaining the kingdom’s trust, he used his magic to brainwash Hyrule’s knights, get rid of the king, and kidnap six of the seven sages to the Dark World, taking the last, Princess Zelda to Hyrule Castle. Despite Link’s efforts, Zelda, too, is sent to the Dark World, and the seal on Ganon is broken, revealing Agahnim as a servant of the King of Evil.
