Despite how it looks, there’s no one in the suit. Dark Samus is a being made entirely of Phazon, cloned from Samus’s Phazon Suit left behind on Tallon IV. Her terrifying abilities include regeneration and mind manipulation. In Smash, though, she fights almost exactly like Samus, replacing beam fire with Phazon blasts.
