Originally a Minish craftsmen, Vaati was studying under him as an apprentice. The two were working on the Mage’s Cap, which Vaati stole and abandoned his Minish form, cursing Ezlo to this form. Ezlo joins Link on his quest to restore the Picori Blade, giving advice and information in an attempt to help the hero defeat his former student.
