#229 in the National Pokédex, Houndoom is a Dark Pokémon. Houndoom is able to shoot flame from its mouth laced with toxins that make the pain permanent. They live in packs, with their leader chosen via combat. When the howls of a Houndoom are heard, other Pokémon in the area will run away to their nests. Humans of old thought they were the calls of Death itself. These rumors along with its abilities gave it a dual-typing of Dark/Fire.
