Mario Kart Wii introduced bikes, and this new vehicle needed its own base model to stand alongside the tried and true kart. This is the original model, which allowed drivers to do a wheelie to gain speed on straightaways. This feature was removed for the redesigned model in Mario Kart 8, though.
