The Star Rod is a powerful artifact of legend and the power source of the Fountain of Dreams. Without it, the inhabitants of Dream Land are unable to dream! It was broken by King Dedede, who did so to prevent Nightmare from taking the fountain over. Kirby restored the Star Rod and defeated Nightmare, setting everything right once again. In Smash, the Star Rod is an item, allowing fighters to fire star shots with their forward smash.
