Vaati was originally a Minish, but abandoned that form in the search for power, specifically the Light Force. He drained that power from Zelda, but his body was destroyed by Link, being sealed in the Four Sword. Ages later, Vaati breaks free, endlessly seeking Princess Zelda, having long forgotten that he already has the power he sought.
